    2008 Program Schedule

The program will include presentations on a range of valuable topics. Some examples: We have a challenging keynote address from Tom Pomeranz, developer of Universal Enhancement and consultant to facilities nationwide. Nancy Thaler of the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services will provide an update on trends and current national initiatives. There will be a panel of state directors who will inform us of the activities in several states. Bill Lowry of Mexia (TX) State School will describe an automated formula to determine facility staffing and funding needs based on characteristics of the people served. Dianne Smith, who is in charge of the CMS survey program, will give us an update on trends, expectations, and current focus of ICF/MR surveys and will be available to answer your questions. You will also hear from people who attended CMS Surveyor Training sessions. Antone Aboud will share practices to create sustainable culture change in your organization. Catherine Hayes, who also has led the CMS survey program, will give you great ideas for preparing your staff for surveys. Diane Moore and Norma Lester of the DD Nurses Association will discuss quality issues in health care.

For the first year, executives of private agencies providing ICF/MR services may be full members of APDDA. Public and private ICFs/MR share similar concerns and are affected by the same regulations and Federal initiatives. This year, a panel of private ICF/MR providers will share their concerns and initiatives.
