Deputy Commissioner
Job Description: Deputy
Commissioner:
The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services (DBHDS)
is seeking an accomplished executive who will serve as the Deputy
Commissioner and is responsible for acting as the Commissioner in his
absence. This individual will provide executive leadership, direction
and support to advance the agency’s vision of a person-centered,
integrated, and recovery oriented system of responsive behavioral
health, developmental disability services and supports for individuals
across the Commonwealth. The position works closely with the
Commissioner and other agency leadership to assure that agency goals and
objectives are met and that resources are optimized. The successful
candidate will provide executive leadership and direction to the three
Assistant Commissioners of Behavioral Health Services, Quality
Management & Development, and Developmental Services as well as the
Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR) and the Office of
Sexually Violent Predator Services (SVP) with respect to all facets of
behavioral health, developmental & intellectual disabilities, and
substance abuse disorders within DBHDS and the system across the
Commonwealth of Virginia.

Assistant Commissioner for
Behavioral Health Services
The Virginia Department of
Behavioral Health and Development Services (DBHDS) is seeking an
accomplished executive who will serve as the Assistant Commissioner for
Behavioral Health Services. This position leads, directs, manages and
supports the Commonwealth’s behavioral health system that includes nine
statewide behavioral health facilities and the offices of Mental Health,
Substance Abuse, Forensic Services, Child and Family, Clinical Pharmacy,
and Criminal Justice. Provides strategic direction for the system of
services and supports that includes Community Services Boards,
Behavioral Health Authorities and private providers. Provides leadership
in advancing DBHDS vision of system transformation and promotes
collaboration of all providers within the Commonwealth in support of
that vision.
